When the GFX card chip was completely dead the only option to use this computer again was to trash all the AMD & ATI kexts to make the Macbook boot.

I modified GRUB to disable the Radeon graphic gard and it worked great! Very stable with full backlight support. So I moved to Linux: Tried Ubuntu & Elementary OS. Sometimes I can replicate this problem with GFXCardStatus, switching is very unstable and very problematic. perhaps because the radeon card is damaged? I don't know. My theory: GPU switching is responsible for this. Sometimes the kernel task process will jump from 1-10% to 600% CPU usage rendering the computer completely unusable.
